Matcha Waffles Recipe
Matcha waffles are a perfect way to infuse matcha in one of the most delicious breakfast and brunch staples – they are just as fluffy and comforting as classic waffles, but with an extra boost of energy from green tea. The gentle sweetness and subtle earthy notes of matcha pair beautifully with fresh fruit, maple syrup, or yogurt, making this recipe ideal both for a quick weekday breakfast and a cozy weekend treat.
This recipe comes from our amazing matcha ambassador the Maniac Matcha Mama, who turned her love for vibrant green matcha into a waffle that looks fun on the plate and tastes even better.
Ingredients:
190g all-purpose flour
4g matcha green tea powder
8g baking powder
1g salt
25g granulated sugar
240g milk
2 large eggs (approximately 100g total)
5g vanilla extract
75g melted butter or neutral oil (e.g., vegetable oil)
Preparation Steps:
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly distributed.
Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth.
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and fold gently using a spatula. Stir until combined without overmixing (a few lumps are okay).
Preheat Waffle Maker: Prepare your waffle maker by heating it and greasing it lightly with oil or cooking spray.
Cook the Waffles: Pour about 120g of batter into the heated waffle maker (adjust based on size). Spread evenly and close the lid. Cook for about 3–5 minutes or until golden brown and the edges are crisp.
